The sixty-first session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, or CSW61, is underway, taking place from March 13 – 24 at the U.N. headquarters in New York. This year the We Will Speak Out global coalition and Side by Side will host a parallel event on Saturday, March 18 entitled “Leaving No-One Behind: Women’s Economic Empowerment, SGBV and Faith.” The discussion will take place at 10:30 a.m. in the Boss Room of the U.N. Church Center, or CCUN.
Side by Side is a growing global movement of people of faith who want to see gender justice become a reality across the world.
The panel will include speakers from the Anglican Diocese of Angola, Padare Zimbabwe, Tearfund U.K., and the Colombian Conference of Bishops, and will be moderated by Dr. Azza Karam, Senior Advisor on Culture at the United Nations Population Fund, or UNFPA.
